The watch that starts blank.
An open watch with no vendor operating system. Five essentials built in. Everything else, you ask for, and our agent builds it for your wrist.
Manifesto
A watch should not belong to a company.
It should not report on you.
It should not stop working when a server does.
Tabula starts blank, and stays yours.
The essentials
Five things, built in. No account, no app, no subscription.
- ITimeminimal
- IIDatequiet
- IIIStepscounted on the wrist
- IVHeart rateoptical
- VTemperatureskin and ambient
Everything else is an ask.
How it works
A dialogue.
You describe a feature, or an entire face. Our agent writes it, compiles it, and a fresh build arrives on your wrist in minutes. There is no limit to fresh builds. Ask again until it is exactly right.
- You
- “For my morning run, show pace, distance and heart-rate zone. Nothing else.”
- Tabula
- A fresh build. three minutes.
- You
- “When I wake, my sleep score. Then just the time.”
- Tabula
- A fresh build. It fades the score after a minute.
- You
- “The next three hours of weather, and my first meeting.”
- Tabula
- A fresh build. The meeting comes from your phone and goes no further.
- You
- “Quiet hours after nine in the evening. One exception: my daughter.”
- Tabula
- A fresh build. The exception is a name on your phone, not on ours.
- You
- “My gate, and a countdown to boarding.”
- Tabula
- A fresh build. It leaves when the flight does.
- You
- “Could the watch simply know which of these I need?”
- Tabula
- A template, Run · Day · Night. One face that switches itself. Accept it, or ignore it.
Once our agent understands how you use the watch, it suggests templates that combine features into one face. That understanding is built on your phone and stays there.
Faces
Six of the faces people have asked for.
Every one is a fresh build. Every one is only a starting point.

Privacy
A vow.
- We do not control your watch.
- We do not want to know you.
- Your asks are anonymized before they reach us.
- Nothing is pushed to your wrist. You ask; we answer.
- Health data stays on the watch and on your phone.
- No telemetry. No remote kill switch.
- If we disappear, your watch does not.
The firmware is open source and compiled for you alone. It is published to your account. You may flash it yourself, over USB, without asking anyone.
Questions
Does the watch work without the agent?
Yes. Time, date, steps, heart rate and temperature are built in and need no account. Every build you have already received stays on the watch.
Is there a phone app?
A small one, for asking and for carrying builds to the wrist over Bluetooth LE. Our agent's understanding of how you use the watch is kept there, on your phone, and nowhere else.
What does a fresh build cost?
Two are free with every watch. After that, builds are unlimited within the subscription: $4.95 a month or $49 a year.
Can I write my own firmware?
Yes. The source is open. Compile it, and flash it over USB.
Are the specifications final?
They are targets. We will say so until the first watches ship.
